Birth Doula Terms and Conditions

As your birth Doula I will visit you three times. Twice in the antenatal period and once in the postnatal period.

I agree that my role is supportive only and that I will at all times, be guided by you.

As part of being your chosen doula I will be available for consultations or just a general chat by phone, texts and email.

My role is a supportive one. At all times I will follow and be guided by your needs and wishes. I am not a midwife and will not give any medical advice I will not read any monitors, make decisions on your behalf. I will make you aware of your options available to you. I will respect your wishes and decisions.

I will be on call 24 hours a day two weeks prior to your due date and two weeks after.

I will attend to you at your home or go directly to the place you have chosen to give birth upon receiving a telephone call from yourselves requesting me to do so regardless of time of day or night. Bearing in mind that I will need a small amount of time to make the relevant arrangements for my own children plus the time it will take for me to travel to you.

On call: I will be available 24 hours a day from when the on-call period starts. I will restrict my movements to ensure that I am able to reach you when needed.

Notification of progress : If you think your waters have broken or your having twinges you must notify me by phone to state things may be happening, so I am aware of your situation and can prepare myself regardless whether its in or out of the on-call period. This is a must.

Hospital Checks : If you are going into hospital for a check up and you are having contractions, you must phone and speak to me to inform me what you are doing and to specify any requirements you have of me. Failure to speak to me when you are having contractions and going to hospital for a check up and you give birth will still result in the full fees being due.

Notification of attendance : I will supply you with two alternative contact numbers and both numbers should be tried until you speak with me, you may leave messages but you should keep trying until you speak to me or I call you back.

When requiring me to attend you must first call the mobile number provided upon signing the contract. If for some unforeseen reason I do not answer you must then call the landline number provided. You must specify that you require me to come to you. Ample time must be provided for me to attend.

I will remain with you at all times during the birth, except in the situation of a caesarian where I will wait at the hospital until you are out of theatre at which point I will return to you. This is dependent upon the policies at the hospital. Once you have given birth I will remain with you until you are comfortable and happy for me to leave. During this time I will assist you with things such as breastfeeding.

Failure to Attend:. If for some unforeseen reason you fail to call me and speak to me prior to the birth and I do not attend the birth, full fee will still be due.

If you contact me early enough and speak with me and yet I fail to attend the birth then I will reimburse you less the deposit

If you contact me late which results in my starting my journey to get to you before you have given birth but arrive after you have given birth then full fees will still be due.

Cancellation: if you terminate the booking outside the on call period then a £30 cancellation fee will be due on top of the deposit paid. If you terminate your booking inside the on call period then full fee will be due .
